The deposition room is one of the most high-stakes environments in legal practice. An attorney must simultaneously listen to testimony, evaluate credibility, formulate follow-up questions, identify inconsistencies with prior statements, and manage the pace and tone of the proceeding all in real time, without the ability to pause and think.

LegalCinch's Live Proceeding Mode was designed specifically for this challenge. It acts as a silent, always-on second chair that processes everything being said and surfaces actionable intelligence exactly when you need it.

How Live Mode Works

When you activate Live Mode for a proceeding, LegalCinch begins capturing audio through your device's microphone. The audio is processed in real time by our speech recognition engine, which produces a rolling transcript with speaker identification. You can see exactly who said what, with timestamps, as the proceeding unfolds.

Simultaneously, LegalCinch's coaching engine analyzes the transcript against three data sources:

  • Your case file prior statements, deposition summaries, document contents, and timeline entries you've uploaded
  • Procedural rules jurisdiction-specific objection grounds, deposition conduct rules, and evidentiary standards
  • Strategic patterns common witness evasion tactics, credibility indicators, and question sequencing best practices

From this analysis, Live Mode generates three types of real-time suggestions:

Follow-Up Prompts

When a witness gives a vague or potentially inconsistent answer, Live Mode flags it and suggests specific follow-up questions designed to pin down the testimony or expose the inconsistency. These prompts appear as a discreet overlay on your screen, visible only to you.

Objection Opportunities

Live Mode monitors opposing counsel's questions for common objectionable forms leading questions in direct examination, compound questions, questions that assume facts not in evidence, and more. When it detects a potential objection opportunity, it surfaces the grounds and the appropriate objection language.

Credibility Flags

When a witness's live testimony contradicts a prior statement in your case file, Live Mode highlights the discrepancy in real time. You can immediately pivot to confront the witness with the prior statement while the contradiction is fresh.

The Transcription Engine

Accurate transcription is the foundation of everything Live Mode does. Our transcription engine is trained on legal vocabulary, including jurisdiction-specific terminology, case citation formats, and procedural language. It handles multiple simultaneous speakers, cross-talk, and accented speech with high accuracy.

Every transcript is automatically saved to your case file, timestamped, and speaker-labeled. After the proceeding, you can search the full transcript, add annotations, and export it in multiple formats for court filing or client communication.

Privacy and Security

We understand that deposition proceedings involve highly sensitive information. All audio processing occurs on-device for the initial capture, and any data transmitted to our servers is encrypted in transit and at rest. LegalCinch does not retain audio recordings only the processed transcript and coaching data are stored, and only in your account.

Getting the Most from Live Mode

Live Mode performs best when your case file is well-populated before the proceeding. Upload prior deposition transcripts, key documents, and any prior statements by the witness. The more context LegalCinch has, the more precise and relevant its coaching suggestions will be.

We recommend running a brief test session before your first live proceeding to familiarize yourself with the interface and ensure your microphone setup is working correctly. Live Mode is available on Pro and Firm plans.
